Biographical Sketch for John P. LaRue
John LaRue has worked in the playground industry since 1991, focusing on the design and development of accessible, and integrated playgrounds. He was part of a Team contracted by the US Department of Justice’s Access Board to develop and write the Design Guide to ADA and Play Areas. John is also a trainer for the NRPA’s certified playground safety inspector (CPSI) program.
John is a recognized speaker on a national, regional and statewide level on a variety of topics and has presented well over 500 seminars throughout North America, addressing Character in Youth, Playground Regulations, American with Disabilities Act, Games and Cooperative Play, Team Building and Developmental Aspects of Children and Play. He is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
John holds a Bachelor Degree in Recreation from SUNY Brockport (Therapeutic) and a Master Degree in Recreation (Therapeutic) from SUNY Cortland.
John resides in Little Compton, Rhode Island and concentrates his professional efforts within the New England/Upstate New York Regions.
